September 24. 2007 By the time a young person comes through our courtroom doors, it is too late. The most frustrating thing we see as judges is when young people enter the court system. We want to do something about that. The “7 Reasons to Leave the Party” is our attempt at preventative law. Using examples from actual court cases, we give young people 7 good reasons to leave a party that has drugs or alcohol. In the coming years, judges will reach thousands of young people throughout Illinois with this message. If we can keep just one of your children out of the party, the program will be worth the effort.  See:  7 Reasons

November 6, 2006 Salute to Veterans: Through the generations, America's men and women in uniform have defeated tyrants, liberated continents, and set a standard of courage and idealism for the entire world. This Veterans Day, our Nation pays tribute to those who have proudly served in our Armed Forces. Many of our colleagues, past and present, on the Illinois courts are among those veterans who have served or are serving. As we recall their service, we are reminded that the defense of freedom comes with great loss and sacrifice. This Veterans Day, we give thanks to those who have served freedom's cause; we salute the members of our Armed Forces who are confronting our adversaries abroad; and we honor the men and women who left America's shores but did not live to be thanked as veterans.
