Dear Members of the Illinois Judges Association, We have gone back to the drawing board for our spring trip. Because of the trouble in Paris, our travel agent, Evie Reubner advised us against going there because we cannot predict the state of affairs in March. Instead Evie Reubner is putting together a great trip to the south of Spain where the oranges grow, Valencia. We will be there for one of the great festivals of the year on March 19th, the feast of St. Joseph. We will leave Chicago on March 16th, travel through Madrid directly to Valencia. We will stay in Valencia until March 21st and then go on to Barcelona and be home on March 26th. The cost for this trip including air from Chicago is $2200.00. If you wish to talk to our travel agent directly, call Evie at 773/989-1100. Illinois Judges may be invited to a special seminar in Las Vegas in April, joining Nevada judges. The hotel and air cost will be very affordable and as soon as Coe Swobe from Reno gives us more information I will pass it on. Coe is a friend of mine whom I met while serving on the ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance. The Nevada judges program is being planned by Coe with the National Judicial College. More on this as soon as I have the dates and hotel names and prices. I hope to have flyers for us at the midyear meeting. We will try to keep the trip open to friends of Illinois Judges as well as our members. One friend who is joining us is Dr. Jose Manglano who is an Illinois physician. He was born in Valencia and his name is like Daley in Chicago in Valencia. It will be an extraordinary trip and Valencia is one of the great cities of the world. Barcelona is also a wonderful place I am told so we are sure to have a lovely time, just like we did in London two years ago. Happy Thanksgiving to all, |
